Paris city break.
From my hometown, Cluj Napoca, and with the help of WizzAir, making a 3-4 days city break to Paris is a piece of cake. Flights are cheap most of the time and if you are flexible on dates, you got yourself a very good deal.
For me, the flight was around 200 lei (45 euros) both ways. As I already learned, when going into a city break, the flight is the most inexpensive part of the trip. Hotel or any type of accommodation, that’s the part that drains your account.
Getting there: Uber – Airplane – Bus – Metro – Paris Hotel. All good.
Travelling in Europe is very easy these days. Look over Google Maps, choose start and destination point, and follow the instructions. Where in doubt, tilt your phone and Google Maps Live View will be your perfect guide. Thats what I did.
First impression was: this city stinks, like … I need a mask to get around here. I don’t know what it is but the smell was so bad in some areas that was hard to walk. Later, I realised that trash bins are not used properly or are full. Also, people are not using the public restrooms and a tree is more useful than a bathroom. Or wait for one to be available.
Of course I encountered a few demonstrations / riots, this should be the slogan for Paris: A riot a day keeps the tourist away. Speaking if dirty city, I cannot explain what was left behind by those people, its hard to understand.
But going over, since this was my first (and last) trip to Paris, I have tried to see the good part of it. Nice boulevards, very nice buildings, parks, easy to get anywhere using the metro, good food. The part a liked the most was that you could have a picnic in public parks and for me this was the best thing in Paris. Bought some wine, cheese, baguette and lay down for an entire afternoon.
Attractions
Eifel Tower: was not impressed, of course was in construction / renovation and around it full of people trying to sell you something, but i spent a few hours there also.
Museums: Since the trip was just 2 full days, I skipped them, I wanted to experiment the city and not been locked between walls.
Hotel: The ReMIX Hotel was a nice hotel, nothing out of extraordinary, clean, quiet, good breakfast and metro access.
Food: I am not the type that searches for start or „I have to go to that restaurant” , If I find something I like, clean and can afford it, that thats perfect. If not, there is always a supermarket near by.
Paris: Conclusion
Its a trip that can be on your list. Like the end of the list, there are many other cities that worth your time, attention, money and nervs.
